The company arranged a special launch event in Jaipur on 5th September, 2011 to make this historic announcement, where first MTS Ultra device was presented to Her Highness Raj Kumari Diya of Jaipur Royal Family. Sandeep Yadav, Chief Operating Officer, Rajasthan & Punjab Circle, MTS India, speaks out: “The launch of CDMA EV-DO Rev.B Phase II will redefine the face of mobile broadband in India. Targeted at the young tech savvy generation, MBlaze Ultra provides extremely fast data speeds that will significantly enhance customer experience while accessing streaming multimedia. I am confident all our customers would relish the MBlaze Ultra experience” For the smooth experience of MTS Ultra, MTS brings two Evdo RevB supported USB dongles which are powered with Qualcomm MDM600 chipset. ZTE AC2791 and Huawei EC306 both dongles are compatible with older networks – 1x (153.6kbps) and RevA (maximum 3.1 Mbps downlink and 1.8 Mbps uplink). The peak speed will be 9.8Mbps on Rev B Phase II network. Both dongles will work as pen drive as supplied with microSD card slot supporting upto 32GB. Both are supported by USB v2.0 and all popular operating systems. Both are available with two color variants – black and white. Both of these plug-n-play devices are excellently priced at Rs 2499. Telecomtalk’s Take: As we know, BSNL 3G offers 15 GB data on its 3.6-14.4Mbps HSPA networks for monthly rental of Rs 1359, MTS Ultra plans seem to be costlier. I have doubt people will ever jump for this services with locked modems. MTS brings better network, but makes the tariff costlier even than current 3G offerings from private operators, with added device cost. I also don’t think MTS will cut down current rev A(MBlaze) offerings anytime soon, as expected by many readers. Also I am disappointed to see that MTS does not offer exchange device program i.e. return MBrowse or MBlaze device and get MBlaze Ultra at a reduced cost.
